Diamond is a girl's best friend .....

Chinese New Year is coming. Shopping madness is already here.. Once a while, it is good to pamper oneself with your favorite things.  A little tip about every girls best friend..

4 Cs Of Diamonds

Various characteristics of diamonds are graded and categorized by the diamond industry. Learning about diamonds is first learning about the "four Cs" of diamonds which are considered the most important grades and categories:
  • Cut
  • Clarity
  • Color
  • Carat weight
These are the criteria jewelers use when grading diamonds, and they're the ones you'll need to understand to buy the right diamond for you. And then there's the "Fifth C":
  • Certificates

Cut

Cut is probably the most important, and most challenging, of the four Cs to understand. The brilliance of a diamond depends heavily on its cut.

Clarity

Most diamonds contain some inner flaws, or inclusions, that occur during the formation process. The visibility, number and size of these inclusions determine what is called the clarity of a diamond. Diamonds that are clear create more brilliance, and thus are more highly prized, and priced.

Color

Colorless diamonds are the most desirable since they allow the most refraction of light (sparkle). Off white diamonds absorb light, inhibiting brilliance.

Carat Weight

A carat is the unit of weight by which a diamond is measured. Because large diamonds are found less commonly than small diamonds, the price of a diamond rises exponentionaly to its size. Read this guide to get a better understanding of what a carat is and how it affects the appearance of a diamond.

The Fifth C: Certificates

The diamond certificate, which is sometimes called a grading report, is a complete evaluation of your diamond that has been performed by a qualified professional with the help of special gemological instruments. Each stone bears its own recognizable, individual characteristics, which is listed on the certificate.

Snow White, Snow Bright, Snow Burns?

Holiday season is in the air. Christmas is round the corner. A time of joy and sharing. Also a time of travelling for leisure =). What I love about Christmas ( apart from the big sales ) is the holiday mood, the gift giving, food feast, Christmas carol and the SNOW WHITE...=) There is nothing better than a White Christmas. The problem is, blessed we are, is that, in Malaysia, we get summer 247 all year round. So we "snow deprived" people, would travel to far far away to experience snow ( from the harmless snow fight to extreme ~ skiing, snow-boarding & jet ski).As we indulge ourselves in the FUN and EXCITEMENT of SNOW..., we must not forget that snow white, snow bright ...it can still harm our skin. Snow Burns!..

You can run, but you can't hide. The beauty enemy ( sun's UV radiation ~ number one factor of aging ) will get to you, whether you like it or not. One of the interesting things about UV radiation is that it is reflected by different surfaces.Reflections can amplify the effects of UV exposure. We know that even if you hide yourself under the palms on a tropical beach, you get amplified UV exposure. The good news is the damage done while you are on the beach is not as severe as when you are in the snow.Snow reflects 90% of UV light. That is why you can get snow blindness and severe sunburns from skiing on a sunny day. More than 90 percent of all skin cancers are caused by sun exposure. It is easy to associate winter with frostbite and windburn, but most people are unaware that UV rays can be even more damaging on the snow slopes than on the beach. Therefore it is important to put on sun protection.

So people, remember to bring along and remember to apply sun protection during your winter holiday too. Be beautiful regardless where you are. =)

How to look good on the go..

Regardless where you are, on land or in the air, the need to look good most of the time is almost a must especially if you are on business assignment. There is almost no excuse to slack. Even if you are on leisure, you do not want to look like a slob or coming back from a tropical holiday and having your colleagues asking , " What happened to you? "  Your skin is as dry and flaking like the Sahara desert due to long hours of travels and sun damaged just because you have forgotten to put sunblock on your checklist or its just too much hassle to bring. Or do you have too much on your checklist that you have a problem trying to squeeze in more of the so called  " must have items" in the already overstuffed suitcase? And half of the time, the so called "must have items" ended up taking space and not used at all.

Back to the topic, grooming is an extremely important part of ensuring you look and feel
good everyday including during travels. This can involve investing extra time in yourself but you must remember that you deserve it and is a great way to build your self confidence.
